Making A Difference

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Helping serve our community has always been a very integral part of PNW Fitness and our family.

We feel honored to be able to support many different charities that are on Capitol Hill, the Seattle area, as well as National and International! Our staff and members are amazingly generous supporters that we are grateful for and proud of.

PRIDE

Pride month being one of our favorite opportunities to give back! We at PNW Fitness show our support for our LGBTQ+ members and community by decorating the facility with Pride flags and its beautiful and vibrant colors as well as a huge arch adorning the front desk for all who come by the gym to see. We want to remind everyone that the LGBTQ+ community is not only welcomed and safe here at PNW Fitness, but also a part of our family!

Giving back is more than showing support and we have created a program to help build a healthy lifestyle for the community. Fit4Pride is an amazing fitness program that gifts 30 free days of training to a select LGBTQ who wish would participate. Within this program, these individuals are granted the opportunity to train alongside a personal trainer who outlines their fitness goals, sets up boot-camp training, breaks down meal plans and is supporting them each step of the way. Those on the Fit4Pride adventure, along with our members, gain a huge support team of individuals and lasting friendships within our staff and fellow members that support and motivate each other to be the best they can be.

To further support the community, one of our creative staff members designs a new Pride shirt every year available for purchase in our pro shop and donates a portion of its Pride shirt sale to a local nonprofit LGBTQ+ organization or foundation.

We at PNW Fitness understand the struggles of all aspects to the LGBTQ+ community and we made sure to show our support to the AIDs Awareness Walk. PNW Fitness staff volunteered to march in support of AIDs Awareness. Dave, Fitness Manager at PNW Fitness, had taken it upon himself to help outline our goals on this mission. Gathering volunteers, setting up a PNW Fitness Booth, and obtaining supplies such as water bottles for the march. Volunteer staff such as our trainer Eddy, handed out water bottles that were donated by PNW Fitness to participants as they marched. Hydration is important and we at PNW Fitness want to support our fellow advocates not only with strong words of support but with tools needed to keep the community going strong.

SUPPORTING A LOCAL SCHOOL

Bailey Gatzert Elementary is a local Title 1 school which means that they are in an area where families need a little extra help to ensure that no child gets left behind due to their socioeconomic status. This school and its kind staff hold a very special place in our heart and helping the students and families mean so much to us! Every August, for almost 10 years, our gym has a backpack drive where we provide backpacks, school supplies, new shoes, clothes and gift cards for the parents through donations from our staff and members. On top of that that, we also work closely with the school counselor and throughout the year we also help support the students with other donations that are needed at that time.

A FEW MORE…

WINTER DRIVE- members and staff can bring in new or gently used hats, coats, scarves, mittens, and sweaters to be dropped off at local shelters.

END OF SCHOOL YEAR DRIVE – Members and staff can bring in new or gently used shorts, t-shirts, baseball caps and fun summer toys.

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT- We sponsor several local families each Christmas to help to ensure that their holiday is special and memorable by helping with gifts and other special requests.

FRIENDS OF YOUTH – A fantastic local charity we work closely with around the holidays. At Thanksgiving, we have a drive to collect food for families in need to be able to have, cook, and enjoy. We Christmas begins to creep closer, a gift giving tree that is covered with basic information on kids in the area and 1 or 2 Christmas presents that they are dreaming of that year. Our members and staff can take a tag, bring that gift back and place it under our giving tree which will be picked up and delivered just in time for Christmas.
